Shan Hua is a digital artist and moving-image maker based in London. Her work explores the relationship between fiction and reality, using metaphor and storytelling to approach emotions and experiences that are difficult to express directly.

Shan’s practice draws from observations of everyday life and memories, transforming them into fictional characters and stories. She often uses existing stories, characters, and fictional worlds as metaphors to express her own ideas. Drawing from cinema, literature, and fashion, her work moves between the intimate and the absurd, using non-linear narratives to explore the relationship between everyday experiences and fiction.

After graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2022, Shan completed a residency at the Sarabande Foundation and is now based at Fe Collective. She was a finalist in the inaugural Vogue China Fund in 2023. Her exhibitions include a solo show at The Slime Engine (2024) and group exhibitions at Shyness Space, London (2023), La Traverse, Marseille, Art Basel, Miami (2024), TANK Art Centre, Shanghai (2024), Ubiquitous Technology, London (2024), Homesick, Sarabande Foundation, London (2025), Osaka World Expo, Japan (2025), and The Magazine (2026).
