Caro Lestón
Caro Lestón is a Galician-Colombian artist based in London. Although born in Getafe (Madrid), she spent her childhood moving across Spain—always the new kid, always in transition. At the age of nine, she emigrated with her family from rural Galicia, where she had finally begun to feel at home, to the United Kingdom. Since then, London has played a defining role in shaping both her life and her practice.
Her work is rooted in authenticity, curiosity, and the courage to live truthfully. She creates the narratives she never saw growing up, striving to embody the role model she once needed. Her practice affirms that joy and fulfilment are not only possible but a right, grounded in radical kindness and the belief that joy, when abundant, must be shared.
Drawn to the Divine and the primordial feminine, Lestón explores what is hidden, esoteric, and ephemeral—the sacred in its dark, open, and fluid forms. Her art exists at the intersection of connection and community. In a time when social media both connects and divides, she uses her practice to challenge polarisation, celebrate unity, and counter the resurgence of violence and misogyny. As a woman of colour working in a male-dominated industry, she embraces her place with conviction—in joy, comfort, and success.
