A Quiet Centre

Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens - Carl Jung

In an over stimulating world where attention is currency, there can be discomfort in sitting in silence. In the group exhibition, A Quiet Centre, five artists tackle what it means to sit, listen, and embody contemplation into everyday choices and rituals. Each artist grounds their meditation in lived experience, drawing on faith, ancestry, or science. As the world becomes more polarised, split by beliefs and cultures, this group exhibition brings harmony in the distinction and celebrates human plurality.

A Quiet Centre encourages the viewer to sit with their inner self and find mental stillness in silence, and from the place of peace dare to look at the world and dream of a better one. Jung calls us to ‘awaken;’ to shift from unconscious participation in life to conscious participation in it, to stop dreaming by living through external narratives and awaken and recognising the inner source of meaning.
